Ted Yadon

May 1, 1951 — December 25, 2021

Alpine, Texas

Ted Graham Yadon, son of Rusty and Eunice Yadon (both decreased) left our lives on Dec. 25, 2021. His wife Liz and friends Donna, Rexann, and Jean were with him at the end of his life.

Ted was raised on the Muleshoe Ranch, and graduated from Borden County High School. He attended Sul Ross State University on several occasions, and graduated in 1975 with a BS in Agricultural Science.

At the behest of a very good friend and teacher, Fr. Paul Weyerts, Ted took the job of ranch manager in the Range Animal Science department. He retired on Jan. 31, 2012, after 37 years.

Ted and Liz had a couple of small ranches leased from some very good people in the Alpine area, and raised their own cattle. Ted day-worked for anyone who asked, did so for many ranches in the Alpine, and loved it.

Other than work, his favorite pass time was to rope, anywhere, anytime, and anything. He had some good horses and some bad ones, but that didn’t matter to him as long as he was horseback. That’s where he was at home.

Ted was honored by the RAS and Rodeo Exes Association, and was inducted to their Hall of Fame. On three different occasions he was recognized by the Sul Ross Rodeo Club for his work helping them.

Ted and Liz Price were married in 1974. They didn’t have children, but he truly loved the kids his friends had, and treated them as if they were his own, whether they like it or not.

Ted is survived by his wife Liz of Alpine, Texas; brother Dennis (Donna) Yadon of Alpine; nephew Shawn (Heather) of Alpine; niece Carry (Kylie) of Iowa; nephews Thomas (Jessica) Black and Duff (Krystal) Black of El Paso, Texas; nieces Dana (Mike) Peek and Leighanne Cruz of Sabinal, Texas; aunts Beth Flynn of Luling, Texas, and Doris Martin of Canyon, Texas, and all their numerous children; and Ted’s many cousins.

Words are not enough to express how much you will be missed. You were one of a kind, and the mold is broken. Your dry humor and wit when you told one of your many stories are gone but not forgotten.

Love ya, Teddy Bear!
