Rosa Granado

July 15, 1945 — December 10, 2020

Pecos

Rosa Minjares Granado passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 in Midland, TX at the age of 75.  She entered this world July 15th, 1945 in Marfa, TX to Nicholas and Maria Minjares.  She was a lifelong Catholic and a lifelong resident of Pecos, TX.

Rosa devoted 46 years of service to the Pecos, Barstow, Toyah ISD.  She served as an inspiration to many by obtaining her teaching degree later in life before officially retiring earlier this year.  Many remember fondly that, for the last ten years of her career, she planned to retire every year only to decide to teach “just one more year.”  Motivating her students was her passion and it showed in her students and the community’s devotion to her.  Rosa considered everyone to be her friend.

She was adventurous, loved to travel, and loved to make people laugh.  She loved to shop especially when it came to buying gifts for her family and friends.  She created a family Christmas tradition of attending Merry Market Place with her family every year, a tradition which will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her father Nicholas Minjares, her mother Maria Minjares, her daughter Marina Natividad, and her beloved, furry, 20-lb companion, Baxter T. Prescott Granado.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Roger Granado; her sons Nicholas Granado of Glendale, CA, and Christopher Granado (Lupe) of Midland, TX; her sister Mary Jane Hernandez (Willie) of Marfa, TX; granddaughters Alexandra Espinoza (Chris) of Midland, TX, Rowan Macias (Alex) of Odessa, TX, Lauren Granado of Fayetteville, AR; grandson Aaron Natividad of Denver City, TX; great-grandchildren Jordan Espinoza and Evan Macias, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, December 18, at 1:00 pm at the Marfa Cemetery

Pallbearers: Chris Espinoza, Glenn Ontiveroz, Ronnie Ontiveroz, Wesley Hernandez, Javier Hernandez, and Aaron Natividad.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a rosary/mass service is being held for the immediate family only.  Attendees to the graveside services are requested to follow appropriate Covid safety protocols including maintaining social distancing and the use of face masks.
