Richard Granado

Fort Davis

A strong, loving spouse, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend Richard “Pops” L. Granado, closed his eyes to his earthly home and opened them to his heavenly home on Sunday, February 7, 2021 with his family by his side. Pops was 82.

A lifelong resident of Jeff Davis County, Pops as his family and friends lovingly called him, was born on November 19, 1938 in Fort Davis, TX to Concepcion Granado and Julia (Lazano) Granado. By trade, Pops worked in farming working in apple orchards, as well in construction.

Viewing for Pops will be held on February 12 from 10 am to 12 pm at the Kelly Outdoor Pavilion in Fort Davis. Praying of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at 12 pm on Friday with Mass of Christian Burial following. Father Pablo Matta will serve as Funeral Celebrant with Rick Ruiz providing musical accompaniment. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Those honoring the memory of Pops by serving as pallbearers are Richard Granado, Jr., Daniel Granado, Marcos Granado, Sr., Joseph Granado, Thomas Granado, James Dutchover with Martin Granado and Marcos d Granado, Jr. serving as honorary pallbearers.

Family was so very important to Pops, that no matter what was going r on, he would always find time for his family. He would attend every sporting e event as well as other events that his grandchildren were involved in such as football games, baseball games and rodeo. Two things, that Pops loved was cooking his “World Famous” Asado and singing with his son Richard, Jr.

Being an avid WWE wrestling fan, an very found memory of Pops is when he and his family attend a WWE match in Odessa. Pops also liked cheering on the Dallas Cowboys

Pops loved to sing with his son Richard in many local establishments. He was a man of integrity and honor. Pops would help his family in any way that he could.

Those preceding Pops in death are his parents and siblings, as well as his beloved and faithful companion, his fur baby Simon.

Pops is survived by his loving spouse of 25 years Elaine Davis of Fort Davis; his daughter Corinna Granado of Midland; sons Richard Granado, Jr. of Fort Davis, Daniel Granado of Odessa and Marcos Granado, Sr., and wife Christina of Midland; friend and mother of his children Jesusita Granado of Fort Davis; sisters Cinderella Urias and husband Asuncion of Fort Davis, Maria Dutchover and husband Elias of Fort Davis; brother Concepcion Granado of Fort Davis; grandchildren Marcos Granado, Jr. of Midland, Izabella Granado of Midland, Joseph Granado and wife Casie of Wink, Brittany Epley and husband Britt of Hico, Skylar Granado of Stephenville, Meranda Ornelas and husband Eddy of Kansas, Rene Granado of Marfa, Auxiana Gonzales and husband Able Baeza of Marfa, Natalia Granado, Nathaniel Granado and Nicholas Granado all of Lawrenceville, GA; eight great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; good friend Martin Granado, as well as all of his wonderful friends that he meet during his life.

Services have been entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
