Maria Dutchover

Maria Gloria Dutchover of Fort Davis, TX passed away on Wednesday, March 29 at the age of 90. She was born in Valentine, TX to the late Porfirio and Julia Granado. She was married to her first husband Patricio D. Olivas in 1948. Together, they raised a family of five before Patricio’s passing. Following his death, Maria Gloria married her second husband, Guillermo Dutchover Jr. in 1987. She was a faithful, longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Davis and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Marfa.

Maria Gloria will be remembered as an incredibly hard worker and one of the best cooks in her community, maybe even the world. She not only dedicated her life to serving the Lord but by loving people in one of the only ways she knew how: to cook her best meals and bake for them until her hands hurt. Her silliness, love of storytelling, and feeding anyone who walked in her front door will be some of the things her family will miss most.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Edward Dutchover, her son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Diana Olivas, her daughter, Betty Jones, her 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and all those who loved her and her cooking.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Patricio D. Olivas, and her second husband, Guillermo Dutchover Jr, her daughter Shirley Olivas, her son Tony Ray Olivas, and her grandson, Joshua Vasquez.

The viewing will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, April 4 followed by a Rosary service at 11 am and the funeral service at 11:30 am, all at St. Joseph's Church in Fort Davis, TX. Lunch will be served at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall following the burial.
