Edward "Eddie" Lewis Jr.

September 25, 1953 — January 6, 2022

Fort Davis, Texas

Edward “Eddie” Lee Lewis Jr. was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on September 25, 1953 to Edward Lee and Gladys (Dickey) Lewis.  He went to be with his Lord on January 6, 2022.

Eddie grew up in Odessa, Texas and graduated from Odessa High School in 1972.  During this time, he was active in Boy Scouts and earned the Order of the Arrow, God and Country, and his Eagle Scout and took great pride in these accomplishments.  After high school graduation, Eddie continued to follow his desire to serve others with an eight-year career in law enforcement with the Odessa Police Department.  Eddie then changed career paths and moved into the oil field business, first as a mudlogger, then in domestic sales, and finally retiring in international sales after 35 years.

Eddie met the absolute love of his life, Clara Julie Lewis, in 1997 and married in December of the same year.  Their life together was filled with a deep love for each other and many happy memories of hunting, fishing, barbequing, antique shopping, and many vacations in various places, including RV’ing and spending multiple summers in Cloudcroft. Whether you knew him as Edward, Eddie, or Papa, he quickly filled your day with joy and laughter with that ornery little grin and a far-fetched story.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Gladys Lewis; grandparents Ira Irvin and Della Lewis, Charles H. Dickey, Buck and Ethel Childress; and brother Michael Ray Lewis.

Eddie is survived by his wife Clara Julie (James) Lewis; daughter Karissa Delynn Stewart of Midland; daughter Lindsey Ann Lewis of Midland; sisters Sharon Coats and husband Randy of Odessa, and Cathy Betzel of Odessa; four grandchildren Paysen Rae Stewart, Janna Alise Lewis, Braelynn Leeann Morden, and Ryan Edward Morden; one great-grandchild Addison Lewis; five nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and -nephews; numerous cousins; and countless friends who were like family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to two organizations that had a great impact on Eddie’s life, Donate Life and Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch.
