Brandon White

December 7, 1967 — August 8, 2020

Fort Davis

Brandon Keith White of Fort Davis and Elephant Mountain passed away August 8, 2020, at the age of 52, while surveying his beloved desert bighorn sheep on Black Gap Wildlife Management Area as a fish and wildlife technician for the great State of Texas.

To know Brandon was to be loved by Brandon. Although he was tough and a man who worked from dawn to dusk, he loved and laughed just as fiercely as he worked and gave away more than he ever had. Brandon was a country boy raised in Spur, Texas, the oldest of three handsome boys born to Ronnie and Glenda White. After graduating from Spur High School in 1986, Brandon moved to Alpine to try his hand at college at Sul Ross University. Although he decided that college life wasn’t for him after he got his first English paper back with more red ink than black, it was the beginning of his life tied to the Alpine area.

Brandon was always an avid outdoorsman, beginning as a little boy learning to ride bareback on his horse Snapper; he and Snapper actually won many ribbons together at the Little Britches Rodeo. After his successful start as a young cowboy, Brandon grew up to be a man with endless talents and loves (including a passion for the Fritos he has lived on for the past few years).

He built many homes, businesses, and friendships throughout West Texas, including Marfa, Alpine, and Fort Davis. From being the lead guitarist in his childhood three-man band and stand-out tough-as-a-boot athlete, cotton stomper, irrigation pipe mover, and furniture builder, to working at South Plains Electric Co-Op and running hotel, pizza shop, car wash, gym, roofing, construction, and air conditioning businesses, there was nothing “BK Shorty” couldn’t teach himself to do other than to sit still. But of all his endless talents and greatest legacies, his most important titles were son, father, brother, husband and friend.

Brandon was born on December 7, 1967, in Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar and Eura Mae Robertson and Orville and Amy White. He is survived by both of his parents, who still reside in Spur; his wife, Letty; daughter Cortnee White of Houston, son Ryder White of San Antonio, stepdaughter Ashley Molinar of Lubbock, and stepson Wesley Molinar of Fort Davis. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Cody and Nicole White of O’Donnell, Texas, and Lance and Melanie White of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, along with his nieces Jordan White, Logan White Bartels, and Vivian White, and his nephew Quentin White. Brandon also leaves behind many cousins, aunts and uncles who adored him, along with countless dear friends who are family by love, although not by birth.
