Bobby Miller

Bobby Loren Miller, 85 of Alpine celebrated his home going into the arms of our Risen Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 1:45am due to complications following a stroke on March 23rd. Daddy was a Godly Christian man, devoted husband to Joyce Miller 85 of Alpine, Texas and father to three sons, Johnny Miller 60, of Borger, Texas Johnny’s daughter Caroline Miller of Amarillo, Texas, Brad Miller 58 and wife Terry Miller of Amarillo, Texas, Loren Miller of Canyon, Texas, Collin and Deborah Miller of Amarillo, Texas and son Monty Miller 56 of Dallas, Texas.  Mr. Miller is further survived by his younger brother Larry Miller and wife Camille Miller of Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as his Brother in Law Dr. Claude Cone of Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A devout Christian with a heart of gold and a loyal friend whose word was his bond. He was firm, fair and would do anything for his family Daddy loved his Savior, guns, cars and above everything else, his family and would light up at the opportunity to talk about any or all!!!  Daddy was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Rev. Albert Loren and Endenola Rice Miller on March 12, 1935. He was the oldest of three siblings, Jeanie Miller Cone and Larry Miller.

Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Miller attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  After a successful year, he transferred to Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas to continue his education with a degree in music ministry.  In 1957, Mr. Miller accepted the position of Music and Education Director of the First Baptist Church in Ralls, Texas thus meeting and later marring Joyce Marie Davis, who was the daughter of a Deacon of the Baptist church.  In September of 1958, the newly married couple moved from Ralls, Texas to Post, Texas in which Mr. Miller was hired as the Music and Education Director of Post First Baptist Church.  In the spring of 1959, Mr. Miller and Mrs. Miller welcomed their first child Johnny in April.  In 1960, Mr. Miller graduated from Wayland Baptist College and accepted the position of Minister and Education Director at Kermit First Baptist Church in Kermit, Texas.  In April of 1962, the Miller’s welcomed to their growing family their second son Bradley Dale.  Following in 1963, the family welcomed their third son Monty Lynn in December of that year.  In 1964, the family moved from Kermit, Texas to El Paso, Texas where Mr. Miller accepted the position of Music and Education Director for Ysleta First Baptist Church as well as working for Ysleta Independent School District.  After a very successful appointment with the church, Mr. Miller move in 1967 to Pecos, Texas and accepted a position with Valley Motor Company working six years and then joined First National Bank for seven more years.

In 1977, Mr. Miller’s eldest son Johnny graduated from Pecos High School and in the fall of 1977 enrolled at Texas Tech University.  In 1980 with the graduation of his second son Brad, in which he attended Hardin Simmons University, Mr. Miller moved his family to Monahans, Texas where he accepted a position with First National Bank.  In 1981, Brad Mr. Miller’s son transferred to Sul Ross State University.  In 1982, Mr. Millers youngest son Monty graduated from Monahans High School and attended San Angelo State as well with the graduation of his oldest son Johnny from Texas Tech University in which he accepted the choir director position at his alma mater Pecos High School.  In 1984, Mr. Miller’s Father in Law passed away as well in May of the same year, the graduation of his middle son Brad from Sul Ross State University as well as his oldest son Johnny being named choir director for Spearman High School in Spearman, Texas.

On January 1st, 1985, Mr. Miller and his middle son Brad, opened Miller Tire Service (Goodyear Tire Store) in Monahans, Texas which coincided with the oil bust in Monahans.  In 1987, Mr. Miller rejoiced with the appointment of his oldest son Johnny as Director of Choirs for Borger High School in Borger, Texas.  In late spring of 1989, Mr. Miller celebrated the college graduation of his middle son Monty who graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in interior design.  Monty moved from Lubbock to Dallas in 1990 accepting a position with The Market.  In the same year, Brad introduced his parents to his future wife Terry Dodd.  In April of 1992 Mr. Miller’s mother passed away and he became the manager for the local General Motor dealership in Alpine, Texas.  In 1993 the Miller family moved to Alpine, Texas and welcomed the first grandchild on May 6th, Loren Douglas Miller. In March of 1997, the family welcomed their second grandchild Collin Bradley Miller.  In midsummer of 1998 Mr. Miller’s father passed away.  In December of 2001, Mr. Miller retired from his final position with Valley Motors, but still sold cars in a part time capacity, as well as his beloved mother in law passed away.    In 2003, Mr. Miller attended his 50th High School Reunion in Melrose, New Mexico.  In 2008, Mrs. Miller joined her beloved husband in retirement from Sul Ross State University.

In the fall of October 2009, Mr. Millers son Johnny miller adopted his daughter Caroline Miller who is currently a sophomore at Randall High School. In 2012, Mr. Miller’s sister Jeaine passed away.   Mr. Miller was Blessed to be able to attend the wedding of his grandson Collin Miller and granddaughter in law Deborah Joyce Howard in February of 2020.  While in Alpine, Mr. Miller was actively involved with the Alpine Chamber of Commerce “Red Coats” Alpine Ambassadors as well with the Alpine County Club in which he served on the Board of Directors as well in various functions.  Mr.  Miller was a very avid golfer.   Mr. Miller and his beautiful wife lived out the remainder of his Heavenly Blessed life in Alpine, Texas.

Survivors eagerly awaiting the heavenly reunion, blessed beyond measure because God gifted this family with such a blessing as Bob Miller, husband, father and papa, are his wife of almost 62 years, Joyce Miller; Oldest son Johnny Miller and granddaughter Caroline Miller; Middle son Brad Miller and wife Terry, whom dad always called his daughter from the very start, oldest grandson Loren Miller and youngest grandson Collin and his wife Deborah Miller; Youngest son, Monty Miller.  Mr. Miller is further survived by his younger brother Larry Miller and wife Camille Miller of Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as his Brother in Law Dr. Claude Cone of Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Daddy always would say, “We’ve been blessed as a family!!!” I believe I can speak for the family, yes, we have and thank you daddy for being a Christian father and patriarch teaching us to PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!!! We’ll see you again when we get home!!!
