Vilma Simental

Vilma Lopez Simental died peacefully surrounded by her family on April 10, 2018 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 78.

Vilma is survived by daughter Lili Ann Ramirez, of El Paso, Texas, son Frank Lee Simental of San Antonio, Texas, niece Nannette Redd and nephew James Valdez. She is preceded in death by her father Elizandro Lopez, mother Maria G. Lopez, brother Rogelio Lopez, sister Elsa Lopez Valdez, niece Rosella Laabs, and nephew Antonio Valdez.

Vilma was born on August 28, 1939 in Alpine, Texas to Elizandro and Maria Lopez. She graduated from Sul Ross State University in 1965 with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. After moving to El Paso, Texas, she began her career in education. She also obtained her certification for Bilingual Education and General Elementary Education. She continued to work as an educator even after retirement. She was active in the Catholic Church as a member of the Guadalupanas and was very proud to be part of the Bereavement Ministry for the Alpine community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine, Texas with burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery.
