Tana Williams Stringfellow of Alpine, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday January 13, 2024.

 

Tana was born in Marfa, Texas on April, 24, 1955 to Dewey and Ginny Williams. She attended school in Marfa until 4th grade, until the family moved to Van Horn, Texas where Tana graduated High School in 1973.

 

After High School, Tana moved to Fort Worth where she Married Bob Penquite and they had one daughter, Ashelea Morgan Penquite. Tana was also step mother to Bob’s daughter Shelley.

 

Tana and Ashelea eventually moved to Florida where Tana began her distinguished paralegal career. 

 

In 1992 Tana was a founding member of the Florida Alliance of Paralegal Associations and served on this Association for 15 years. In 1993, she served as President of the Northeast Florida Paralegal Association and she also served on the Paralegal Program Advisory Council for the University of North Florida from 1993 -1999, as well as receiving the outstanding Alumni Award in 1996.

 

Tana was bestowed the distinguished award, 2002 Paralegal of the Year Runner - Up, by a leading law magazine. Legal Assistant Today.

 

In 2009, Tana became a member of the Executive Committee of the Paralegal Association of Florida, Inc. where she served until 2011.

 

During her career, Tana served on the Florida Bar on various committees.  She was on the Standing Committee on UPL from 1992-2000, Co-chair of Special Committee on Paralegal Regulation from 2005-2006 and the Florida Registered Paralegal Standing Committee from 2008 until her retirement in 2018.

 

In 2018, Tana Stringfellow retired, and moved back to Texas.  She bought a home in Alpine where she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and served on the Family Crisis Center board and eventually started back to work.  She enjoyed putting her skills to good use at Big Bend Title Company.

 

In her spare time, Tana was an avid gardener and loved her herbs and flowers, especially using them in her own cooking. She enjoyed hunting and shooting with family, was avid about natural health and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marfa.

 

Tana is preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Virginia (Ginny) Williams of Fort Davis and nephew Logan Williams of  Alpine.

 

Tana is survived by her daughter; Ashelea Penquite of Tennessee, her brother and his wife; Mike and Leslie Earline Williams of Alpine, niece and her husband; Michelle and Kacee Murff of Junction, nephew and his wife; Lance and Judy Williams of Perrin, and 3 great nieces and 5 great- nephews.

 

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2023 at 8:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 9:00 AM at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Memorial Chapel at 209 W. Sul Ross Avenue in Alpine, Texas.

 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Family Crisis Center of Big Bend, The National Diabetes Association, or charity of your choice.

 

 

Services are entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home in Alpine, Texas.
