He is preceded in death by his father James Fitzgerald and mother Enedina (Annie) Lujan Donohoo.

To honor Sammy's life and legacy, visitation will take place on September 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Alpine Memorial Funeral Home located at 209 W Sul Ross Ave in Alpine, Texas. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Sammy Lee Fitzgerald will be deeply missed for the love he shared with those around him and the laughter he brought to every gathering. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and genuine enjoyment of life will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
