Salvador Cardona, age 89, of Fort Davis, passes away due to respiratory complications, on August 1, 2026, in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will take place at the Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 PM. The following day, the recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 11 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Davis beginning at 9:30 AM. Funeral mass will follow the Rosary at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Joseph's Cemetery after the funeral mass.
Mr. Cardona was born in Calera, Zacatecas, Mexico on January 8, 1937, to Ramona and Cipriano Cardona. He married Ramona Lazos in February of 1960 and stayed married for 61 years until she passed away.
He worked for many years at Baeza's Grocery Store in Fort Davis, then he worked as a custodian for the Fort Davis ISD for more than 10 years, where he retired because of health problems.
He was a devout catholic all his life, he served at St. Joseph's Catholic Church as a lector, altar server, catechist, and was a matachin dancer with his wife.
He loved play his harmonica, especially on someone's birthday; read the Bible, pray the rosary, and talk about religion. Lately, he enjoyed watching videos about all countries around the world.
Survivors are Yolanda Cardona, Alvaro Cardona, Sergio Cardona (Irene) of Midland and Veronica Jones (Jamie) of Lubbock, six grandsons and four granddaughters, three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
Pallbearers are Gabriela Cardona, Odette Jones, Jamie Luna, Francisco Cardona, Hector Cardona and Alvaro Cardona.
The family of Salvador Cardona wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Patrick Daly of Presidio County Health Services, Agave Home Health and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Services have been entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home in Alpine, Texas.
