Roy Melvin

Roy Clell Melvin, 60, of Marfa, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at his residence.

Visitation will be held at Geeslin Chapel in Alpine, Texas, Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest cemetery in Fort Davis, Texas Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. Pastor Jose Cordero will officiate. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Roy was born in Pecos, Texas on October 17, 1953 to Jack and Jimmie Melvin. He was a selfemployed heavy equipment operator and a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Doylene Melvin of Marfa, daughter Carnel Flores her husband Pete and their children, Allison, Sarah, and Abigail of Andrews, sons Jack Melvin his wife Mandy and their children, Tyler and Matthew of Odessa, David Barrett his wife Tommye Jo and their children, Bo and Brady of Belton, Texas, brother Jimmy D. Hammer Melvin his wife Ellen and their children, Barbra Haire and husband Lynne and their children, Kristofer and Alexa of Lubbock, Chester Melvin and wife Amy and their daughter Abby of Ely, Nevada and Michael Melvin of Marfa. he also leaves behind a great grandchild, Jareth Carrole and special friends, Pastors Jose and Patricia Cordero and the Joe Medley family.

Mr. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Johnnie Melvin and grandparents Jessie and Lona Birdsong of Belton, Texas and Roy A. and Maise Melvin of Salado, Texas.
