Raymond Paul Janiczek, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Alpine, Texas, on January 22, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on February 9, 1944, in Gary, Indiana, Raymond was a lifetime seeker of knowledge and creativity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Raymond devoted his professional life to the field of mechanical engineering, where he honed his exceptional skills at DOW for many years. His career took him across the globe, but his fondest memories were made during his time in Italy and Spain, where he embraced the culture and formed lasting connections. Even in retirement, Raymond remained a valuable asset to DOW, serving as an analyst who tackled the most challenging problems with his trademark tenacity.
An enthusiast of all things mechanical, Raymond reveled in rebuilding engines and working on cars; his passion for drag racing filled his weekends with adrenaline and excitement. Proud owner of John Deere tractors, he found joy in both tinkering and cultivating the land. Raymond was known for his remarkable ability to fix anything, tackling each obstacle with a creative flair. Nothing deterred him; every challenge became an opportunity for ingenuity.
In addition to his mechanical prowess, Raymond was an excellent cook, sharing his love for Polish cuisine with family and friends. He often delighted those around him with his homemade bread, embodying the warmth and generosity he was known for. With a quick wit and a knack for humor, he was a true jokester, and his laughter echoed in the hearts of those who spent time with him.
Raymond shared 31 memorable and loving years with his wife, Teresa Peck, by his side. He is survived by their son, Craig (Amber) Janiczek, and cherished grandchildren Kai and Skylar. Raymond also leaves behind his sister, Judy Crawford, and countless friends who will fondly remember him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 11, 2026 at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Teresa would love to invite all who knew Raymond to come out and share stories and spend time remembering Ray.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we honor the memories he has left behind and the love he instilled in our hearts. Raymond, you will be missed.
