Raymond Glen (R.G. “Real Good”) (Pawpaw) Decker passed away this past Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, in his home in Alpine, Texas. He will be truly missed. Born in Dallas, Texas to Lois and Elmer W. Decker, on January 28, 1950.

R.G. lived most of his young life in the Odessa and Midland, Texas area attending Midland High School. He spent over four years in the United States Marine Corps, from 1967 to 1971. Semper Fi. He then went on to receive his Ranch and Livestock degree from TSTI in Waco, Texas. Having learned at an early age, the trade of boot making and shoe repair from his father, he spent many years maintaining Decker Boot and Shoe Repair in Midland and later in Mesquite, Texas. He met the love of his life in 1971, Laura Martin, they wed and enjoyed 54 beautiful years of marriage and raised four wonderful children. Upon retiring to Alpine, Texas, they enjoyed going to garage sales every Saturday where he was an enthusiastic conversationalist. He reluctantly traveled and enjoyed every bit of it. He enjoyed entertaining grandchildren, being cohorts in mischief and mayhem. He created his own personal oasis with ponds, trees and plants, then enjoying the domestic and wild animals that would visit.

R. G. is survived by his loving wife, Laura: two sisters, Jane Wooten of Midland, Texas and Sherry Koury of Throckmorton, Texas; one brother, Robert Decker of Edgewood, Texas; four children, Julie Elliott-Cramer of Alpine, Texas, Jennifer and Brandon Shelton of Alpine, Texas, John and Nikki Decker of Boerne, Texas, Jacob and Candie Decker of Boerne, Texas; his twelve grandchildren, Aiden and Ember Elliott, Maximus Cramer, Victoria and Charles Michaelis, Isabella Shelton, Brandon Shelton, Jr., Logan Decker, Landon Decker, Lincoln Decker, Haylee Decker, Drake Decker, Ivan Decker and Freya Decker; his great grandchildren, Nevaeh and Camila Michaelis; and many many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

 Pallbearers include John Decker, Jacob Decker, Aiden Elliott, Logan Decker, Brandon Shelton, Sr., and Frank Reimer.
