Perry Lynn Cozzen died peacefully in his sleep at home in Fort Davis, TX on June 28, 2018. He was born in Lamesa, TX on May 28, 1945 to Lawrence Perry (Jack) and Lois Cozzens [[]sic]. He grew up on a cotton farm and graduated from Lamesa High Schoool in 1963. That fall he enrolled in Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. His studies were interrupted when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1967. He achieved the rank of sergeant before leaving the Air Force in October 1972. He returned to TCU and graduated in 1973. He retired from the real-estate business in Fort Worth and moved to Fort Davis in March 2012.
In Fort Davis he pursued his love of photography and writing. Amazon published Further West, his book of 12 short stories along with an audio version with Perry reading those stories in his authentic West Texas voice.
This fine West Texas man will be held close in the hearts of so many, especially his lifelong friends from Lamesa, and friends from Fort Worth and the Big Bend.
Perry is survived by his stepson Baron H. Hodo; grandson Ryan J. Hodo, whom he adored; stepson Harvey (Skipper) Hodo; grandchildren Karlie, Sarah, and Colby, and 7 great grandchildren; cousin Jerry Taff from Lubbock and 3 other cousins born in Anson, TX. Celebrations of his life are being planned.
