Paul B. Evans of Alpine, Texas passed away suddenly on April 13, 2026. Paul was born Friday November, 13 1953, in Canadian, Texas and was a graduate of La Marque High School in La Marque, Texas in 1971. He attended Sul Ross State University for two years before enlisting in the United States Army in 1973 where he served as a Military Policeman in South Korea and Colorado before honorably separating from service and returning to Sul Ross where he graduated in 1976 with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Paul served as a Deputy Sheriff in Brewster County and served in the same capacity in Reeves County where he met his future wife, Celia in 1979. He then served as a Deputy United States Marshall from 1983 until his retirement in 2009.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting and fishing. He was a passionate student of Texas history and genealogy. His ability to tell a story was exceptional. Paul was completely devoted to his family and loved spending time with his sons, bonus daughters and granddaughters.
Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years Celia Evans; his sons David and Matthew Evans; bonus daughters Melissa and Selina Evans; granddaughters Kylee, Esther and Camila Evans; sister Judy Anne Trainor and husband Jay; sister Liz Outlaw and wife Marianne VanHoutte; his niece Elizabeth Trainor and nephew David Evans. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Zora Evans, his brother David N. Evans and his nephew Patrick Trainor.
Services to honor Paul are as follows: Visitation at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Chapel located at 209 W. Sul Ross Avenue in Alpine, Texas on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with the recitation of the most holy Rosary to begin at 6:00 PM. A funeral Mass will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026 beginning at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine, Texas with a funeral meal to follow at the Parish Hall.
Pallbearers: Local Law Enforcement Legends: Ronny Dodson, Danny Dominguez, Kirk Caughman, Felipe Fierro, Darrell Losoya, Elva Acosta.
