Starts at 10:00 am (Central time)
Patricia “Pat” Roberts Wells, aged 92, was a longtime resident of Marfa, Texas, who passed away peacefully in Dickinson, Texas, on May 22, 2026. She was born to Harry S. and Mary F. Roberts in Oakland, California. Pat attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and later graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Catholic High School in Oakland in 1953.
Pat met her husband, Marlowe Wells, while he was serving in the Air Force in California. After Marlowe completed his service, they moved to Marfa, Texas, where they shared a loving marriage that lasted fifty years.
In 1978, Pat fulfilled a lifelong ambition by graduating from nursing school. She began a long and dedicated career caring for others as a nurse. Pat worked at both the hospital and nursing home in Alpine, Texas, and also served as a traveling nurse for several counties in the area. In her later years, she provided private duty nursing for many patients in their homes. Nursing was more than just a profession for Pat; it was a passion, and she cherished caring for and visiting with all her patients.
Pat was renowned among her family for her cooking and baking skills. Family visits were always accompanied by the treat of her homemade waffles and syrup. She had a deep love for collecting recipes and cookbooks, resulting in a vast collection that she enjoyed sharing with friends and family.
Pat’s devotion to her church was another important part of her life. She attended Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marfa, where she served as treasurer for many years and enjoyed socializing with fellow parishioners.
Pat touched the hearts of many throughout her life and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Fil, and her husband Marlowe. She is survived by her son Harry (Marilyn) of Marfa; daughters Ann Willis of Dickinson, Texas, and Martha Gemmill (Richard) of Granbury, Texas; as well as six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Marfa Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marfa, Texas, or to a Hospice of your choice.
