With heavy hearts and joyful memories, we celebrate the life of Miguel Esteban Ortiz, who passed away on April 29, 2026, just one day after his 40th birthday. Born on April 28, 1986, in San Antonio, Texas, Miguel was a beloved husband, son, and friend who infused every moment with warmth, laughter, and kindness.
Miguel, a proud graduate of Sul Ross State University, excelled in his career as a cook in the food service industry, where he shared his passion for flavors and culinary art with all who had the pleasure of tasting his creations. His love of cooking was rivaled only by his hobbies; Miguel found joy in painting, crafting mini figurines, target shooting, and fishing. An avid gamer, he cherished the time spent with friends, immersing himself in virtual adventures and sharing tales of triumph and laughter.
A talented musician, Miguel could often be found strumming his guitar, filling the air with melodies that uplifted the spirits of those around him. He had a special bond with his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Anna Maria Rodriguez, and together, they relished the joy of attending concerts, creating lasting memories entwined with music.
Miguel was a friend to all and possessed a remarkable ability to connect with people. His open heart and welcoming spirit meant that anyone who met him quickly became a part of his circle. He adored his dogs and cats and took every opportunity to share his love for life's simple pleasures.
He is survived by his devoted wife Anna, his parents Manuel and Oralia "Lali" Ortiz, brothers Aaron and Danny Ortiz (Chynna), and sister Terri Godin. He also leaves behind cherished nephews and nieces, including Aaron Bishop Villarreal, Alannah Villarreal, Solomon Ortiz, and Estelle Ortiz, who will carry on his legacy of love and companionship.
In celebration of Miguel's life, a public viewing will be held on May 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home - Memorial Chapel. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM that same day. A Mass will be celebrated in his honor on May 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Miguel's earthly journey will conclude with cremation.
Though we grieve the loss of Miguel Esteban Ortiz, we find solace in the beautiful memories he created and the love he shared with all of us. Let us carry his spirit forward, honoring the joy he brought to our lives.
