Obituary

Luz Valencia, 64, passed away on September 3, 2026. She was born on May 12, 1962, in Pecos, Texas to Juan and Virtudes Valencia.

Luz dedicated many years of her life working at Safeway in Alpine, Texas and as a home care provider in San Angelo, Texas. More than anything, she always took care of her family. She always knew how to make you laugh and you never knew what was going to come out of her mouth!

She is survived by her daughters, Briana Valencia and fiancé Adrian Vazquez, and Bianca Valencia; grandchildren, Berna Gonzales, Bella Gonzalez, Antonio Gonzales, and Adrian Vazquez III; great-grandson, Uriyah Gonzales; brothers, Johnny Valencia, Samuel and Rosa Valencia, Raul and Mary Valencia, and Lionel Valdez as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Virtudes Valencia, brother Robert Valencia, sisters Margaret Valdez, Diana Torres, nephew Raul "Bully" Valencia Jr. and many other family members that I’m sure welcomed her with open arms.

Funeral services are entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home and will take place as follows: Visitation - Friday, September 18, 2026, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the funeral home chapel located at 209 W. Sul Ross Avenue in Alpine and with the recitation of the most holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with interment to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery. There will be a funeral meal provided thereafter at the OLP Parish Hall.

The family would like to thank everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
