Leonor Galindo Valenzuela passed away on January 15, 2026, in San José, CA, after a short illness.
Leonor Galindo Valenzuela, “Nonie”, was born on March 14, 1930, in Alpine, Texas. As the eldest of six, she carried a deep love and protection of family throughout her life. She grew up in a very musical family, singing and playing the guitar together. As a young girl, Nonie learned the value of hard work. At the age of 15, she worked as a waitress at the Green Cafe and at the Holland Hotel. She later worked at the Morrison Store, where she worked closely with Margaret Rojo, her grandchildren’s future paternal grandmother, forming a lasting family connection. During summers as a teenager, Nonie traveled to California to work in the orchards and canneries with the Galindo, Gallego, and Alvarado families. By the early 1950’s all the families were residing in San Jose, CA. In 1962, Nonie’s family settled permanently in San Jose, California, where she continued to build a life with her beloved husband Rudy and children, Linda and Mario. While living in California, Nonie and her sisters worked as certified electronic technicians. She later worked at IBM/ROLM as an office assistant until her retirement in 1992.
Nonie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was strong, hardworking, and deeply devoted to her family. As a grandmother, Momo Nonie showed her love through action— cooking delicious meals, crocheting blankets, sewing clothing, and taking her grandchildren shopping. She took great pride in caring forher grandchildren. She ensured they were loved and well cared for.
Nonie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodolfo (Rudy) Valenzuela; her sisters, Mary Camargo and Emma Vijil; her brothersEzequiel Galindo, Ramon Galindo Jr, and her parents Erlinda and Ramon Galindo.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Rojo, her son Mario, and her brother Robert Galindo; her grandchildren Ronnie, Ricky, Sandra, and Vanessa; and her great-grandchildren Alyssa, Alex, Ella, Liliana, and Joaquin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Leonor Galindo Valenzuela, our Momo Nonie, will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A funeral rosary and mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church in Alpine, Friday, July 17, 2026 at 10am. Burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery
