Jose Rodela Gallego, 88, former resident of Alpine, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Andrews Hospital in Andrews, Texas.

Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine, Texas. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, at Our Lady of Peace and Military graveside service will follow at Holy Angels cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gallego was born in Alpine, Texas on June 4, 1926 to Daniel and Luisa Gallego. He was a United States Navy veteran.

His is survived by his wife, Gloria Portillo Gallego of Alpine, daughters Leticia Portillo Noel Lopez of Baldwin Park, California, Theresa Luisa Ramirez George Ramirez of Andrews, Texas, Jennifer Lynn Morris Sam Dutchover of Alpine, son James Matthew Morris Linda Morris of Alpine, Sisters Nora Reed of Santa Rosa, California, Betty Frietas Milt Frietas of Fortuna, California, a brother Danny Gallego Patti Gallego of Alaska, grandchildren Mia Soleil Morrris, Regan Seville Morris, Nadia Rain Athena Morris, Bo Madaline Morris, Joseph Anthony Morris, Jeffrey Ramirez, Jared Ramirez, Samuel Dutchover, Seth Noel Dutchover and James Matthew Morris Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
