Jerry Gulihur

January 8, 1940 — June 18, 2013

On June 18, 2013 Paw Paw was called home. He was born on January 8,1940 to Fred and Nita Gulihur in Marathon, Texas. Paw Paw was raised on Santiago Peak and later the Rosillo Mountain Ranch. He graduated Marathon High School in 1958. On June 13, 1959, Paw Paw married the one and only love of his life, Carol Ann Nester Gulihur. Jerry and Carol had two children, Gary Jerome Gulihur born March 6, 1960 and Lori Sue Gulihur Skillern born February 14, 1963. He worked for the Parks and Wildlife Department at the Black Gap Wildlife Management area, then as a Game Warden from 1962 until 1967. Paw Paw went to work for the U.S. Border Patrol, June 15, 1967 until his retirement on November 30, 1990. He and Memaw spent his retirement years doing the things they enjoyed together until her passing on December 21, 1997. He then had many good years with his grandkids Bill Gulihur, Caitlin Gulihur, Anita Matelda Freitag Gulihur, sister, Rita Aunt Tinky Gulihur Martin, and wife of thirty eight plus years Carol Ann Nester Gulihur. He is survived by three sisters and one brother, Lavern Aunt Toots Gulihur Avery, Norman Uncle Shug Gulihur, Emma Aunt Sis Gulihur Hudman, Nonita Aunt Snookie Gulihur Brown, son and daughterinlaw Gary and Jodie Gulihur, daughter and soninlaw Lori and Bobby Skillern, grandkids, Bill Gulihur, Caitlin Gulihur, Ryder Skillern, Rashea Skillern, and many nieces,nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers are Clay McKinney, Clay Ryon Mckinney, Jake Mckinney, Lyn Shackelford, Bill Gulihur, and Ryder Skillern.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday, June 20, at the Geeslin Chapel in Alpine. Graveside services will be held at the Marathon Cemetery on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
