Jaime Pena-Alfaro

March 22, 1950 — November 12, 2020

Marfa

With his beloved family by his side, the great hands of master craftsman Jaime Pena-Alfaro, a lifelong resident of Marfa, laid down his earthly tools to join the great Master Craftsman to a grand and wonderful homecoming. Jamie was 70.

Jaime was born on March 22, 1950, in Marfa, Texas, to Raul Pena-Alfaro and Enriqueta Magallanes Pena-Alfaro. He met and married the love of his life, Carmen Lujan Pena-Alfaro, on July 15, 1972, and together had two wonderful children. They were married for 48 years.

Jaime was a member of the United States Air Force. Until his retirement, Jaime was the owner and operator of Durable Roofing.

Funeral services will be arranged at a later date.

Jaime was beloved by all. He was a mentor and knew exactly how to help everyone reach their full potential in life as well as being their mentor. Jaime always knew he wanted to move his family back to Marfa. In doing this, Jaime himself built his family’s “Oasis” home in Marfa. He was very proud of this accomplishment. He was an avid woodworker, crafting beautiful items from wood for many.

Jaime was known for his award-winning, mouthwatering barbecue in which he would always say, “My brisket is as tender as my heart.” Jaime would often watch the Texas Longhorns and cheer on the opposing team of the Dallas Cowboys. He would help family and friends take care of family members’ cemetery plots in Merced Cemetery.

Apart from Jaime loving his whole beloved family, he was extremely proud of and honored to have been blessed with his first grandson, Jaime Raul “JR” Pena-Alfaro, whom he had great plans for in life.

Those preceding Jaime in death are his parents and many beloved family members.

Those left to honor and cherish the memory of Jaime is his wife Carmen Pena-Alfaro of Marfa; his daughter Angelica “Angie” Bourne and husband Richard of Manor, Texas; his son Jaime “JJ” Pena-Alfaro and wife Tina of Kyle, Texas; his sisters Olga Hall, Nora Parras, Elma Tarango, Laura Aycock, Linda Pena-Alfaro; his brother Ruben Pena-Alfaro; his beloved grandson Jaime Raul “JR” Pena-Alfaro; as well as many nieces and nephews.
