Herminia Church

Herminia "Minnie" Church, 91, left this earth to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, January 5, 2015. Minnie was born to Pedro and Francisca Tellez on March 17, 1923 in Candelaria, Texas. She was the oldest of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Francisca Tellez, sisters Carolina Salgado and Rosa Lara.

During her long wonderful life, Minnie was a beloved mother, grandmother and aunt. She was also loved by friends and her community and will be greatly missed. She was one of God's Angels on this earth and now, she will be an angel in heaven looking over all of her family and friends.

She was also the recipient of the career woman of the month in 1979 from the Marfa Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and life time member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #2235 Mother of the Incarnate Word.

Minnie is survived by her brother Pete "Tito" (Bonnie) Tellez from Louisville, Kentucky, a nephew/son Paul Salgado (Irma) of Marfa, granddaughter Dani Salgado (Kyle) of Austin, grandson Chuck Salgado (Tara) of Marfa, great grandchildren from Austin, Anika Salgado and Ethan Lusk-due to arrive any day now, Zoey and Aiden Salgado of Marfa, nieces and nephews Maria Patricia Lujan and Gina Rivera of Del Rio, Robert Salgado (Louise) of Orange Park, FL John Salgado (JoAnn) of Alpine, George Salgado (Sandra) of Marfa and Raymond Salgado of Marfa, Anna Lara, Jose Lara (Bonnie), David Lara, Alicia Rivera (Albert) of Albuquerque, NM, Raul Tellez (Kathy) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Phillip Tellez of Louisville, Ky. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.

Services for Minnie will be on Friday, January 9, with Rosary at 11:00 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary's Catholic Church and burial will follow at La Merced Cemetery in Marfa. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Rubio, Luis Herrera, James Lujan, Jacob Lujan, George Salgado, Jr. and Samantha Salgado.
