Guadalupe Granado Rubio

Fort Davis, Texas

With a heavy heart, we announce that our beloved, sweet, kind, gentle loving mother, wife, sister, friend and prayer warrior Lupe Rubio of Fort Davis, closed her eyes to her earthly home and opened them to her heavenly home on July 11, 2023 in El Paso, TX at the age of 75. 

Lupe was born on May 9, 1948 in Fort Davis, TX to Francisco and Estafana Granado. She graduated from Fort Davis High School and settled in Fort Davis. She worked at and retired from the McDonald Observatory. She met the love of her life Robert Rubio and their beautiful love story gave birth to two children. 

Lupe loved to spend time with her family, friends, prayer group and church family. She was known in the community as a kind generous woman. Since 1998, Lupe would volunteer in her community at the Food Pantry. Since Lupe was a constant volunteer, the Food Pantry honored her with naming the kitchen inside the center, “Lupe’s Kitchen”. Lupe was a member of the Christian faith and never met a stranger. 

Proceeded in death by her father, Francisco Granado, husband Robert Rubio and her son Robert Joel Rubio. Those here left to honor and cherish the memory of Lupe are her son, Jeremiah Rubio and his wife Ginger Rubio; Daughter in Law Stephanie Rubio; Grandchildren, Allison Rubio, Blake Rubio, Levi Rubio, Mikiah Rubio and Olivia Rubio; her mother Estafana Granado, Sister Francis Rubio; Brothers Martin Granado and Charley Granado;  Nieces Priscilla Rubio, Krista Ramon, Vanessa Kinkade, Stephanie Valerio and Wyomi Granado; Nephews Thomas Granado and Carlos Granado; Special Friends Sharon Ingram, Marlyn Gray, Jamie Dean, Misty Roberts, Betty Nunnelee and Lucy Dutchover. 

Those honoring the memory of Lupe by serving as pallbearers are Thomas Granado, Arturo Lunares, Sabien Granado, Anthony Muniz, Mago Vargas and Brent Waldrep. Those being honored as honorable pallbearers are: Blake Rubio, Levi Rubio, Charley Granado, Martin Granado, Russ Ingram and David Dean. 

The Celebration of Life for Lupe Rubio will held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Jeff Davis County Community Center. Viewing will be at 9:00 am, services will follow at 10:00 am and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
