Glenn Lowrance

Glenn Lanny Lowrance left our world on January 1, 2014 after a brief illness.

Lanny was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. on September 13, 1942. He spent most of his younger years in Brownwood, Texas and graduated form Brownwood High School in 1960.

After spending some time in the US Army, Lanny moved to Alpine, Texas. He graduated from Sul Ross State University with a BS in Range Animal Science in 1968.

Lanny loved the Alpine and Big Bend area very much and chose to raise his family in the beauty of its mountains.Though he tried many other occupations, Lanny was a cowboy at heart. He left the area a few times only to be drawn back by the cowboy way of life, his family and the many friends he had here.

Lanny is preceded in death by his father Glenn Catfish Lowrance , his mother Miriam A. Lowrance and his brother Sammy L. Lowrance.

He is survived by his brother Marcus and sisterinlaw Barbara Lowrance of McKinney, Texas. Also, he is survived by his four children, Miriam Panchi Scown of Alpine, Sarah Locke of San Antonio, Glenn Trey Lowrance III of San Antonio, and Stephanie Lowrance of Austin. He had two sonsinlaw, Russell Scown and J. David Locke, and five grandchildren. Lanny left behind many friends as well.

Graveside services were Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
