Gary Lee Abercrombie, 60, from Odessa, TX. passed away peacefully on Dec. 24th at MCH Odessa after a lengthy illness.
Gary was born on August 9, 1965 in Alpine, Texas, to Bill and Bonnie Abercrombie. The family moved to Pecos in 1970. He attended school and graduated from Pecos High School in 1983, He moved to Alpine where he attended SRSU and started his family. He eventually moved to Odessa.
He was a cowboy and a welder. Gary loved the beauty and freedom of being outdoors: fishing, hunting, boating, riding horses, roping, and he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. His pride and joy were his daughters, grandson, and his fur babies Todd and Vixie.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents Kirby and Delphia Killion; parents William (Bill) and Bonnie Abercrombie; and his first daughter Adria Faye Abercrombie.
Survivors are daughter Ashley Abercrombie and her son Adrian of Montana; daughter Amy Abercrombie of Montana; brother William (Bill) Abercrombie, Jr of Alpine; sister Leisha and husband Mike Haynes of Odessa; sister Karen and husband Mauro Armijo of Odessa; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
We are so grateful for the staff at MCH Odessa, West Texas Cancer Center, Texas Tech Internal Medicine, MD Anderson, there are just too many to mention. A special thank you to Katrina and Alyne, you were not just his Respiratory Therapists at MCH, you were his friends and he loved you both.
In lieu of flowers: donations to West Texas Gifts of Hope, local blood banks, food banks, or animal shelters in his memory are appreciated.
Services entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
Viewing Dec. 31st from 9-11am, service followed by burial 11-1pm.
