Freddy J. Jaquez, 66, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at his home in Alpine.
Freddy was the 5th of 11 children, born in Alpine on December 30, 1948, and was a lifelong resident of the area, a longtime member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Freddy was a proud combat veteran of the US Army. In 1968 he was drafted and served in the Vietnam War. In 1988 he enlisted in the US National Guard. in 2005, at the age of 57, America once again called Freddy to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Freddy retired from the US Army National Guard.
Rosary service will be held at 10 am., Saturday, March 21st and Mass to follow at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (406 S. 6th St) in Alpine. Internment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Freddy was preceded in death by his parents; Bonifacio Sr. (1987) and Maria Jaquez (2004), his brothers Pablo (2002) and Bonifacio Jr. (2014).
He is survived by brothers: Ruben Jaquez of Cibolo, Tx, Jesus Jaquez (Jesusita) of Midland, Tx, Joe Jaquez (Patsy) of Bakersfield, Ca, sisters: Rosa Edwards of Onalaska, Tx, Sally Rodriguez (Frank) of Alpine, Tx, Linda Melendez (Ralph) of Lawrenceville, Ga, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be: J.J. Espinosa, Eddie Vega, Anselmo Reyes, Frank Rodriquez, Jr., Brian Jaquez, and Mauricio Cordova, Jr.
