In Loving Memory of Faron Prausa

Faron Prausa passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 18, 2026. His passing was unexpected and has left a tremendous sadness in the hearts of those who loved him.

Faron and his wife, Cheryl, first met in the late 1980s after she returned from Oklahoma City. She worked for him for a short time, and during that time the two began dating off and on. What began as a chance meeting grew into a lasting love. In June 1995, they were married and began a life together that spanned more than 30 years.

Faron was born in Oconto, Wisconsin, where he lived until the age of 20 before moving to Texas, which became his home.

He was a hardworking and dedicated businessman who owned and operated his own construction and contracting company for more than 40 years. His reputation for hard work and experience extended throughout the three surrounding communities, where people knew him and regularly called upon him for his contracting services.

Family was always important to Faron. He stayed especially close to his mother, Rita, in Wisconsin, calling her at least three times a day. Their daily conversations were such a familiar part of his routine that if he missed a call, his mother would call Cheryl to make sure everything was alright.

In his spare time, Faron enjoyed spending time at Planet Marfa, where he visited with many friends. A small memorial was held there in his honor, where many friends and members of the community gathered to remember him.

Faron is survived by his wife, Cheryl Donaldson Prausa, his two sons, Rase LaChappell of Wisconsin and Travis Prausa of Dallas, Texas, and Travis's wife, Linda; his mother, Rita Prausa; his sister, Lisa Prausa Smith, and her husband, Mark; his brother, Scott Prausa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rollie Prausa; his aunt, Ruth Zimmerman; his uncle, Oscar Wolfgram; and a few cousins.

Faron will be deeply missed by his loving wife, family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
