Evelyn Largent

April 28, 1925 — October 6, 2017

Evelyn Jane Largent passed away at Point of Rock Ranch near Fort Davis on October 6, 2017. She was 92.

The family of Mrs. Largent invites you to join them in a memorial service in Fort Davis at the First Methodist Church on Friday, October 13 at 10:30am.

She was born in Trinidad, Colorado to Howard and Bernice Lackey on April 28, 1925.

Jane Largent grew up in Raton, New Mexico, where her father was a Chevrolet car dealer. She attended Stevens College in Missouri and graduated from the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque.

As a photographer, she met Rust Largent who was managing the show cattle on the TO Ranch near Raton. Rust and Jane were married on August 24, 1949. In 1956, they moved from New Mexico to Texas, first residing near Alpine in Sunny Glen when it was still ranch land and then at the Point of Rock Ranch. The couple was married for 46 years before Rust Largent's passing on Christmas Day in 2005.

Jane was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved gardening and being a wonderful hostess prepared many home cooked meals for family and friends down through the years. She has left a legacy of her homemaking knowledge and skills with her family. Her children, grandchildren and their spouses continue to preserve and maintain her values in their own families. She faithfully supported her husband in all his ranching endeavors. Jane was diligent in seeing that her children received an excellent education which included outside of school music lessons and exposure to the fine arts.

She is survived by her children, Ellen Baize, Linda Minnick, Roy Largent, and their families, including 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.alpinememorialfuneralhome.com.
