Esequel “Zeke” Bermudez was called to be with the Lord on Jan. 8, 2021 at the age of 77 years. Zeke was born on April 10, 1943, to Merced Bermudez and Telesfora Moralez Bermudez, and lived in Alpine all of his life.
Zeke proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, one of his fondest accomplishments. A native of Alpine, Zeke attended Sul Ross Sate University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974. Zeke later went on to work at the university, and retired after 25 years of service.
Zeke will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Norma Rojo Bermudez, daughters Krisinda Aranda and husband Elizardo “Buddy,” and Cinderella Bermudez; and sons Merced Bermudez and Esequiel Eduardo Bermudez. Zeke will also be lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren, Geoffrey Raul, Logan, and Karyssa Calderon, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters Ramona Llanez and Manuela Armendariz, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were all special to Zeke. He spent his retirement helping raise his grandchildren and supporting his family.
Zeke was preceded in death by his parents Merced and Telesfora Bemudez; a step-son, Raul Ramos, Jr.; his brothers Eulalio, Angel, and Felix Bermudez; sisters Dominga Minjarez and Juliana Chavez; and a nephew, Ernesto Bermudez.
A rosary service and funeral mass will be held Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine, with burial at Holy Angels Cemetery immediately following.
Pallbearers will be Joe Macias, Elizardo “Buddy” Aranda, Danny Flores, Marc Miranda, Mauricio Cordova, and Sam Orona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine ,or a favorite charity.
