Dora Nunez Rivera of Marfa, Texas died October 19, 2013 at Monahans Managed Care Center. She was 85 years of age.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church, at 211 W. San Antonio St. in Marfa, Texas. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, at St. Marys. Burial services will follow at La Merced cemetery. Deacon Paul Lister will officiate. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dora was a devoted housewife, mothr, grandmother, aunt, friend who along with her husband Alcario B. Rivera raised four children in Marfa. She was a wonderful cook, known for her empanandas, vizcochos, and many home cooked pastries and meals.

Dora was born on September 19, 1928 to Jesus F. Nunez and Maria L. Nunez in Ruidosa, Texas. After completing her schooling at Ruidosa, she continued her education in Marfa, graduating at Marfa High School. In time, she met the love of her life, Alcario, and they were married. The couple lived in Valentine, Texas for several years before moving to Marfa where they resided for the rest of their lives.

It was in Marfa where Dora and Alcario raised their three boys, Arcadio, Orlando and Michael and only daughter JoAnn.

Dora was a woman respected and loved by many. She was a vibrant woman with a humorous outlook on life. She wanted only the best for her children and grandchildren always giving them sound advice. When times got tough for them, she would always use her favorite saying which was, Dont worry, be happy Her grandchildren have heard this saying on numerous occasions.

Dora is survived by two sons, Arcadio and wife Berlinda Rivera of Monahans, Michael, Gina and Blue Rivera of Marfa, a daughter, JoAnn and husband Tiburcio Garcia of Alpine, a daughterinlaw, Lupita Rivera of Marfa, four grandchildren Rocky and wife Liz of Allen,Texas, Ricky Rivera also of Allen,TX, PedroAlcario Garcia of Lubbock, TX, Jessica Garcia of Houston, TX, great grandchildren, Sophia and Eva Englade of Allen, TX. Dora is also survived by two brothers, Lee and wife Roberta Nunez of El Paso and Regino Nunez of Marfa.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus F. and Maria L. Nunez, husband Alcario B. Rivera, son Orlando Rivera, three brothers, Leo Nunez, Robert J. Nunez and Ismael Nunez.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Orlando Rivera Memorial Scholarship Fund at Marfa National Bank, P.O. Box S, Marfa, Texas 79843.
