Daniel Portillo

Daniel Villalba Portillo, 88, longtime resident of Alpine,, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Big Bend Regional Medical Center.

Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace and military graveside service will follow at Holy Angels cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Portillo was born in Alpine, Texas on August 8, 1927 to Juan Tercero and Rosa Villalba Portillo. He had worked at Sul Ross State University in the custodial department and also as a painter.

He is survived by his daughters; Margie Ramirez of Fort Stockton, Adelina Portillo of Presidio, Lorena Rosales and husband Rolando of San Antonio, Anna Chavez and husband Danny of Alpine, Carla Dominguez and husband Rey of Alpine, his son; Dan Portillo, Jr. and wife Dena Hernandez Portillo of Alpine. He is also survived by his sister; Mary Ramos of Pecos, Lucia Portillo of Arizona, brother; Tony Portillo of Pecos, 21 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great, Great, Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
