Carlos E. Ibarra, beloved husband, brother, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, in Alpine, Texas, at the age of 87. Born on May 29, 1939, in Presidio, Texas, Carlos’ life was marked by devotion to his family, deep ties to his hometown, and a gentle, steadfast spirit.
Carlos was born to Atonacio Ibarra and Jesusita Estrada in Presidio, where he experienced the warmth and strength of family from an early age. These early years in Presidio set the foundation for the values that would guide him throughout his life. He shared a strong bond with his siblings, including his sister, Oralia Herrera, who survives him, and his late brother Hector Ibarra.
Above all, Carlos found his greatest joy and support in his loving wife, Arminda M. Ibarra. Although they didn't have children, together, they built a life rooted in love and mutual respect, weathering joys and challenges side by side. Carlos was a proud godfather to more than 20 godchildren and uncle to 21 nieces and nephews. Arminda remains the pillar of the family, honoring Carlos’ legacy with grace and resilience.
Throughout his life, Carlos was a source of quiet strength and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. Friends and extended family remember him as a man of integrity—a compassionate presence who brought warmth to every gathering and could always be counted upon for wisdom and kindness. His lifelong connection to Presidio underscored his enduring commitment to the people and places that shaped him. Carlos served his community and two countries by working as an immigration inspector for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection in Presidio, Texas.
Carlos also leaves behind his beloved sister, Oralia Herrera, cherishing their lasting relationship as siblings and confidants. In mourning his passing, he is reunited with his parents, Atanacio Ibarra and Jesusita Estrada, and his brother, Hector Ibarra, whose memories are forever treasured by those who knew them.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Carlos E. Ibarra on Friday, July 11, 2026, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Presidio, Texas. The visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by a rosary at 9:30 a.m., and the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at Santa Teresa Catholic Church, 1101 O Reilly St., Presidio, TX 79845. Following the funeral, interment will take place at Desert Hills Cemetery, East US-67, Presidio, TX 79845, at 11:30 a.m.
Carlos E. Ibarra’s life is a testament to enduring love, loyalty to family, and dedication to his roots. His memory will be cherished by his dear wife, Arminda, his sister Oralia, and all those whose lives he touched. His spirit will long remain a gentle presence in the hearts of his family and community.
