Bumpas Bumpas

Ted B. Bumpas, passed away December 30, 2013 in Alpine at his residence. He was born on May 6, 1930 in Rockdale, Texas and grew up in Madisonville, Texas where he excelled in football. After high school he began working for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until he was called for active service in the Army for the Korean Conflict. He served in the Field Communication Area. When discharged, he returned to work for the telephone company for forty years, retiring in 1988. He and the family moved to Grandfalls until his only son graduated from high school, then they moved to Alpine to help care for his motherinlaw. Married for fiftysix years, he and his wife Margaret Ogle Bumpas, were blessed with four daughters and one son. His daughters are Libby, Beth, Martha, Emily and his son David. Ted had five grandsons, Jordan, Kyle, Kevin, Levi and Julian and one grand daughter Sarah.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
