Should you have had the privilege of meeting Arthur, you would have been greeted by his big smile, joyful personality, and the feeling that you were his best friend. Arthur wanted everyone to feel loved. If you never had the opportunity to know him, it truly was your loss.
Arthur O. Pattillo was born on July 27, 1959, in Rochester, New York. He passed away on October 7, 2026, in Alpine, Texas, at the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Valera Zee Pattillo, parents, Harold and Carol Pattillo, and his sister, Bobbie Pattillo Kay.
Arthur grew up in Beaumont, Texas, and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1977.
He spent most of his adult life in Fort Davis, Texas, where he worked in his family's businesses, The Honeycomb and Stamp-A-Star. Arthur was a diligent salesman who took orders and made deliveries on foot throughout town. He was truly a familiar face in the community and a man about town.
When he was not working in the family business, Arthur dedicated himself to serving others through various jobs in the hospitality industry, working for many of Fort Davis's hotels and restaurants. Wherever he worked, he enjoyed meeting people and making new friends.
Arthur also spent eight years as a seasonal employee with the National Park Service at Grand Teton National Park. He often spoke of its beauty and cherished the experiences he had there.
Later in life, Arthur traveled across the United States by train to live with his sister, Bobbie, in Vancouver, Washington, after she was widowed. He enjoyed his time in Washington and quickly found work in the service industry, where he once again built friendships and brightened the lives of those around him. After Bobbie's passing, Arthur returned home to care for his aging father, Harold, until Harold's death earlier this year.
If given the opportunity, Arthur could happily talk for hours about his beloved Green Bay Packers. He was the ultimate fan. He also had a lifelong passion for professional wrestling and enjoyed following the sport.
While those were his earthly passions, Arthur's greatest love was his faith in Jesus Christ. He had a huge heart and never hesitated to share the love of his Lord and Savior with others. Arthur loved people unconditionally, even when that love was not returned. His faith guided his life, and he found joy in encouraging others and pointing them toward Christ.
If you were fortunate enough to know Arthur, you know that his friendship was genuine, his compassion was sincere, and his faith was inspiring. He leaves behind countless memories, warm conversations, and friendships that touched many lives. Though he will be deeply missed, those who knew him take comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly.
A memorial service will be held on November 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Fort Davis, Texas.
