Alfonso Ramos, 89, of Alpine, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026.
Alfonso was born on September 30, 1937, in Alpine, Texas, to Solomon and Josefina Ramos.
Alfonso proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Light Weapons Infantryman in Korea. His military service was a source of great pride, and he remained a proud veteran throughout his life.
Following his military service, Alfonso earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Sul Ross State University in his hometown of Alpine. He went on to dedicate many years of his life to educating young people as a teacher. In addition to teaching, Alfonso proudly continued a family tradition as a third-generation barber.
Alfonso was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Josefina Ramos; his brothers, Julio Ramos, Salomon Ramos, Carlos Ramos, and David “Mundy” Ramos; his sisters, Amanda Ramos, Amparo Ramos, Teresa Rubio, and Josefina Molinar; and his son-in-law, Michael Mog.
Services for Alfonso are taking place on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM, the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 AM and the funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place after the Mass at Holy Angels Cemetery with military funeral honors. A funeral meal will be provided after the burial at the OLP Parish Hall. Pallbearers will be Aiden Ramos, Ethan Ramos, Ray Ramos, Cesar Leyva, Orlando Leyva, and Audie Ramos. Honorary pallbearer is Boy Ramos.
Alfonso leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him deeply, and a legacy shaped by service, education, family, and tradition. He will be remembered as a proud veteran, teacher, barber, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
His life was a gift to those who knew him, and his memory will remain with his family for generations to come.
May he rest in peace.
