Patricio "Pat" Bejarano Chavira, 73, passed away, joining his Redeemer, Jesus Christ in glory on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Tomas E. Creek Medical center in Amarillo, Texas. Pat was born July 7, 1946 to Raphael and Cecilia Bejarano of Fort Davis, Texas, the youngest of five children. He was adopted and raised by Salvador and Sixta Chavira in Marfa, Texas from and early age. He graduated from Sul Ross University in 1975.

Pat served in the U.S. Army, 1st Air Calvary, during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of his 13 month  tour of duty, he received multiple decorations, most notably the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, and the Air Medal for Aerial Combat Achievement.

Pat was self employed for the majority of his adult life, he enjoyed the comradery of his friends, customers, work crews, and working alongside his three sons. He enjoyed, "the good of all his labor in which he toiled under the sun all the days of his life which God gave him; for it was his heritage." -Ecclesiastes 5:18. He was an avid reader, particularly loved novels of the old west and preferred a lively board game, dominos, or cards over television.

Pat is survived by his sons Patricio 'Patrick" L. Chavira Jr. of Marfa, Texas and David Luna Chavira, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Travis Salvador Chavira, of Austin, Texas; brother, Luis Bejarano of Pecos, Texas; nieces and nephews, Tina, Dina, Billy, Cecilia, Margo, Rachael, Laurie, Luis and Patricia.

A special thank you to the Veterans Administration and the staff of Thomas E. Creek Medical Center for the loving care and support given him over the past 5 years.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 205 N. Austin St., Marfa, Texas. Please join family and friends for fellowship and meal immediately following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in memory of Patricio B. Chavira to the Big Bend Livestock Association, P.O. Box 1342, Alpine, Texas 79831.
