Edwina Alvarez

Edwina Campos Alvarez, 74, of Fort Davis, Texas passed away at her residence on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Balmorhea, Texas on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 3 p.m., at Christ the King, Wednesday, June 25. Burial will follow at the Balmorhea cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edwina, known to friends and family as Nina, was born in Marfa, Texas on December 2, 1939. She lived the majority of her life in Odessa and retired in Fort Davis. She was a teacher and counselor with the Ector County Independent School District receiving her B.A. from the University of Texas Permian Basin and her Masters from Sul Ross State University. She is survived by her husband, Eriberto Eddie Hernandez Alvarez of Fort Davis, her daughter Norma Jean Alvarez of Odessa, her son Robert Rene Alvarez of Fort Davis, sisters Janie Tapia of Odessa, Josie Ramos of Odessa, Anita Gonzales of San Antonio, brothers Mario Campos of Rosenberg and Joe Campos of Odessa, cousins, Alice Rodriquez of Fort Davis, Gloria Garcia and Sabina Ontiveroz of Marfa, sisterinlaw, Aurora Campos of El Paso and close family friend Karen Smith of Odessa and numerous nieces and nephews.
