Albert Burton

June 5, 1933 — May 24, 2019

Albert Prentice Burton, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 24, 2019, in his home in San Antonio, Texas, while receiving hospice care. He was born on June 5, 1933 to John and Clara Bell Burton in Edinburg, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and wife Jo Ann Cavender Burton.
Military graveside services will be held on Monday, May 27th, 2019 at Elm Grove Cemetery, with Rev. Dick Zimmer serving as Celebrant. Mr. Burton will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife with full United States Air Force Honor Guard.
Albert lived a full life. After graduating high school in Edinburg, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served proudly for four years. He then went on to earn a bachelor's degree and master's degree, and was a few hours shy of a doctorate. He attended Sul Ross State University, Indiana University, and Ball State University earning degrees in both business and education.
While being both and educator and school administrator in Indiana, and Texas, he loved helping students learn. He enjoyed many hobbies in his lifetime including flying, photography, fishing, and a love of art.
Those left to honor and cherish the memory of Albert are his daughters Stella Garwood and husband Brian, and Helen Lockett and husband Darrell; grandchildren Jaton Bahlow, Bobby Cooper, Jennifer Cooper and Katherine Garwood; his eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his many friends, as well as the life's that he molded as an educator.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted by the Burton family to the caring staff of Alpine Memorial Funeral Home of Alpine, Texas.
