David was a devoted, full-time single father who will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home in Alpine, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to David’s favorite animal shelter, grandcompanions.org.
I just found out about Dave's passing from a mutual friend and EOD School classmate.
Dave was a great guy. I only bumped into him periodically during our Naval careers. As a classmate in EOD School I do remember him fondly as the class prankster.
I just wish that I'd stayed in closer contact.
Rest In Peace my old friend. I will see you on the other side.

The service was teary-eyed, in part for grief, and in part for humorous memories. What an extraordinary life, an extraordinary man. The Navy Colored Guard gave an exceptional "salute" for Dave's many years of service. The memorial service given by the funeral home director, Joe, touched us all, especially the poems he selected and how he honored Dave's daughter's and granddaughter. This service will be a sweet memory for all the years to come. Dave was my close friend since high school. It's hard to look up the street toward the campus of Sul Ross and know he'll not tread there again.
